The 2nd Philippine KPOP Convention, organized by the Philippine KPOP Committee Incorporated, will make history once again at the PICC Forum on December 11. Following the timely theme of “2010: The Year of Kpop,” the convention will feature events designed to encourage local k-pop fans to creatively express their passion for k-pop through dance and costume play competitions.
Attendees are encouraged to participate in three contests including the “2nd Philippine KPOP Dance Battle,” the “KPOP Kosplay Year II,” and the “KPOP Idol Look-alike.” Aside from the contests, the convention will feature exclusive album launches from its record label partners, as well as a Korean street fashion show staged by YesStyle.com. There will also be performances from PoinTen, Stylettos, and others. These events will surely be well received, given the k-pop-inspired dance and fashion that are rapidly sweeping the nation.
Since local K-pop fans are incredibly diverse, with fans coming from the young and the not-so-young sets, the organizers are working closely with local k-pop fan clubs, including 2NE1 PH, Cassiopeia PH, Ukissme, SHINee World PH, Super Junior United, Triple S PH, Wonderful PH, Girls Generation Ph, and Shinhwa PH. More than 40 fan clubs will be represented during the convention.
The highlight of the convention is the announcement of the winners for the “2nd Philippine KPOP Awards.” Filipino K-pop fans vote for the winners in seven categories through the convention website. The complete list of nominees is as follows:
