In Korea, it is said that people who are good-looking are labeled as 'flower boys.'
As beautiful and as fragrant as a flower... Like a slender, beautiful young man coming out from a shoujo (young girl) manga, it's ChangMin!
The staff suggested for the shirt to be unbuttoned all the way, but ChangMin shyly and desperately refused, saying, "No way, no way, even if it's not unbuttoned, it's fine!" But in the middle of the shoot, he relented. (laughs) "Normally, I wouldn't have let others look at it once like this!" And in the end, he finally showed off some of his physical beauty. Sure enough, it's a 'flower boy'! He added, "It's not like that. Female friends (T/N: Here it sounds more like 'Others') have never called me that before. Perhaps I'm not that popular..." (T/N: He said this in a humble manner)
Seeing that modest look, Mika Ninagawa told him her feelings, "Compared to the past, he has become more mature." In response to that, ChangMin said, "It really makes people happy."
"Indeed, I have changed a bit. Regarding the woman I like, she should know that I would tell her all my feelings bluntly, although they may not be considered positive. Before confessing, I would also be very cautious. In terms of character, values and lifestyle, whether or not they can be put together, I will confirm it again. Those who say 'I like you' on the first meeting are mostly just attracted to outward appearances. I have also experienced this in the past, but aren't there still many beautiful women in this world? So, I wish that from this, I can find the person who suits me perfectly."
Even so, external beauty is slightly more important?
"Rather than being pure and cute, I prefer beautiful people. Regarding my ideal type, I have a lot of requests, but if I say too much, I would become the enemy of women (laughs). It's undeniable that I prefer girls who are sporty, active, lively, and with proper etiquette. Maybe I will be mistaken by others to be too greedy, but I still also want her to try hard to understand me. As for age, I don't really mind. I said once that I liked people similar to Yuko Takeuchi, and I recently saw a poster of Aragaki Yui, she who is more mature, surprised me, making me think 'Wow, really beautiful!' To be honest, I like quite a number of people. (laughs)"
"If it becomes necessary that I have to fight for the woman I like, the 'me' now would just let her go. But if I do so, letting me think about making her my own, I would not go and see her again. This person makes me feel that I can't do without her, making me addicted, and if I see her again, I would most likely not be able to control myself."
"I want to fall in love!" ChangMin said. "When doing things, I would ask myself, 'What is she doing now?' and when eating, I would think of 'This is really delicious, next time, should go and try this together with her.' I would like to experience 'falling in love' many times. I want to date her for a long time, maintaining a mutual feeling of falling in love, and living on. To me, love has positive influences on work, so I really want to fall in love."
Then, what do you think is the most important when being in love?
"Mutual modesty (humility). I don't really argue with others, and if I quarrel with my girlfriend, I would deliberately lose to her."
"That's really cocky ah!" ChangMin said with a wry smile, "Honestly, it's like this perhaps..."
"But this has to be carried on well. Whether it's ex-girlfriends or the people around me, they have often told me to 'not say your own things out loud.' Compared to speaking, I prefer listening. Even if there are problems, you would feel that only one person being frustrated is already enough. I think that it's not really a good thing, so I want to correct it... But for me, it's really hard. I don't want my girlfriend to see me in my frustrated state and worry; maybe this is not a necessary sense of responsibility. My parents once said, why not talk to us about it? Even when I was a kid, I was slowly able to overcome my hardships on my own. With my girlfriend, I would like her to rely little by little on me."
ChangMin says that he wants to get married when he is around 30. "I want to build a harmonious and warm family. Currently, I am still living together with YunHo, and soon I would start living on my own. YunHo is also already counted as 25 years old, like that then its better if it's an independent life! And up to date, I have not tried living by myself and I would like to do so."
Ninagawa's point-of-view:
A year ago, I had taken pictures for him, and now he's more mature. Even though he carries the quality of being 'forever the youngest,' he has become manlier. Young, but very tolerant. When the shooting began, the variety of changes in expression from cute to mature is amazing. No matter how beautiful the appearance is, the heart is the nature for all mature men. Perhaps it's the characteristics of Korean men. On the contrary, I hope that Japanese men would work harder.
